NightCoop Installation Checklist Before You Play
A source-bounded NightCoop installation checklist covering official download status, game version, RED4ext and matched builds for Cyberpunk 2077.
Start with availability, not a download link
NightCoop is an unofficial Cyberpunk 2077 co-op mod that has been shown through official gameplay and feature information. As of October 22, 2026, the official NightCoop page still says the project is in closed testing and that download availability is not yet open.
That changes the first installation step: confirm where the current build is legitimately available. Do not use a download link merely because a page says "NightCoop" in its title.
Use these checks first:
- Open the official NightCoop site or a confirmed official channel.
- Confirm the current release stage and whether files are actually available.
- Confirm the supported Cyberpunk 2077 version.
- Only then continue with the dependency and build checks.
Current status and dated changes:
Installation preflight
The official NightCoop page describes a three-stage flow: install RED4ext and NightCoop, have the Host open a co-op session, and have Guests connect directly or through the relay hub.
Before starting, record these four facts:
| Check | Record |
|---|---|
| Cyberpunk 2077 version | Installed version and patch number |
| NightCoop build | Exact version or build identifier |
| RED4ext | Project source and installed version |
| Group setup | Every player's matching build |
If one field is unknown, stop and resolve it before changing the game installation.
Step 1: Verify the game version
The official NightCoop page currently names Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.31. Confirm that version in the game or platform before installation.
Do not assume that:
- a later game patch is supported automatically;
- an older NightCoop build remains compatible after a game update;
- another player's working game proves your version is identical.
The requirements page keeps the compatibility boundary visible:
Step 2: Install RED4ext from its project source
NightCoop requires RED4ext. Use the RED4ext project as the source for its own installation and version information:
The official NightCoop page says Cyber Engine Tweaks is not required. Do not install CET simply because another modding guide recommends it for a different Cyberpunk mod.
After installing the dependency, recheck both the RED4ext source and the NightCoop source. A dependency that is present but outdated still needs verification.
Step 3: Install the confirmed NightCoop build
Once the current official NightCoop build is available, install only the build that matches the current game version and the group's agreed version.
Avoid these shortcuts:
- Downloading a mirror without checking its source.
- Mixing files from two NightCoop versions.
- Assuming the newest file on a social post is official.
- Continuing when one player cannot identify their build.
The official feature page is the authority for the current build and download status. This guide does not replace that source.
Step 4: Run the group preflight
Every player should report the same information before the Host opens a session:
- Game version
- NightCoop build
- RED4ext status
- Any error shown before launch
If the builds differ, fix the version mismatch first. A connection test cannot prove that mismatched builds are safe.
Host and Guest responsibilities are explained here:
Step 5: Host and connect
The Host starts from a saved world and opens a co-op session from the in-game co-op menu. Guests then join directly or through the relay hub.
The official information does not justify inventing a universal menu path for every possible build. If the menu label differs, use the current official build and its own interface as the evidence rather than copying an old screenshot blindly.
Installation result checklist
Installation is not fully verified until:
- the official NightCoop source still shows the build as available;
- the game version matches the supported version;
- RED4ext is installed from a confirmed source;
- all players use the same NightCoop build;
- the Host can open the session flow described by the official source;
- Guests can attempt the documented direct or relay connection route.
If one check fails, return to the previous step instead of changing several things at once.
